Albert Einstein, Henry Ford, Marie Curie, Sigmund Freud…these are just a few of the critical thinkers who have shaped our modern lives. Critical thinkers think clearly and rationally, and make logical connections between ideas -- they are crucial to exploring and understanding the world we live in. Critical thinkers are focused on constantly upgrading their knowledge, and they engage in independent self-learning. The Elements of Critical Thinking Essay
What are the 8 Elements of Thought? | Life Persona
The Elements of thought They refer to a thought model that helps us understand how we can divide the different parts of thought. These elements can be divided into purposes, information, inference and conclusion, concepts, assumptions, implications and consequences, points of view and questions. Understanding the elements of thought allows humans to disseminate, in a logical way, their thinking and the thinking of others. When we think about something in particular, we usually do several things at the same time. We look at it from a point of view, regarding who we are or what we value. Then we think with a purpose: why am I thinking about this? Then we have the question in question that we are trying to answer.

Definitions of critical thinking, its elements, and its associated activities fill the educational literature of the past forty years. After a careful review of the mountainous body of literature defining critical thinking and its elements, UofL has chosen to adopt the language of Michael Scriven and Richard Paul as a comprehensive, concise operating definition:. Paul and Scriven go on to suggest that critical thinking is based on: "universal intellectual values that transcend subject matter divisions: clarity, accuracy, precision, consistency, relevance, sound evidence, good reasons, depth, breadth, and fairness. It entails the examination of those structures or elements of thought implicit in all reasoning: purpose, problem, or question-at-issue, assumptions, concepts, empirical grounding; reasoning leading to conclusions, implication and consequences, objections from alternative viewpoints, and frame of reference.
