I had already had an uncle pass away from leukemia, so when my grandma was diagnosed with stomach cancer and then my uncle, it was a very difficult time for the family. Spending those days in the hospital with my uncle and helping him sit up and walk around and then seeing what the nurses did and how they helped, made me see that helping make people feel better is something that I know I would love to do. He was injured in the Vietnam war, which ceased his military career and was returned to San Francisco to heal from his injuries, where he met my grandma, who was his nurse. Those parts of his life really stood out to me, because he overcame so much in his life and always kept moving forward. At this moment in time, my Grandpa Albert was weak, a side I never saw from him, but he enjoyed talking about his accomplishments, which helped fix his negative attitude, he always claimed to hate.
