The emphasis throughout the play on Juliet's youth, despite her growing maturity, establishes her as a tragic heroine. Juliet is presented as quiet and obedient; however, she possesses an inner strength that enables her to have maturity beyond her years. When her mother suggests that she marry Paris because Paris is rich and good looking, Juliet responds: "I'll look to like, if looking liking move" I. When she meets and falls in love with Romeo, she is prepared to defy her parents and marry Romeo in secret.

The Maturities of Romeo and Juliet It is a controversial topic whether youth is capable of handling a mature love. Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare by , epitomizes this common topic. The main characters of the play are two teenagers who fall in love at the first sight, however, the hatred between the families of the two leads to their death in the end. In Romeo and Juliet all the roles have unique character traits. Throughout the play the people suffer many different downfalls because of their bleak actions. An overly aggressive, short tempered character gets himself in lots of trouble every time someone disagrees with him or opposes him. Although he is aggressive it is his confidence and courage that truely leads to his downfall.

They weren't just looking for escapism from their families, but also Juliet was seeking for a way to escape marrying Paris. This is stating that his life depends on Juliet his worst enemy, which is also kind of stating that this might be his way of escaping from the family brawls. Also Juliet talks about how she is in love with her worst rival. Instead of conforming to the expectations their family and society places on them, Romeo and Juliet choose to follow their hearts and stay together. Romeo and Juliet also both give up welfare and security in order to be with each other and ultimately give up their lives, the greatest sacrifice.
